Scope of research
Full research in Belgium and France (on-site and online archives). For other countries, research is limited to what is available remotely (digitised holdings and online databases).

Our research complies with archive law and privacy rules.
Belgium
The Royal Decree of 17 March 2021 (Belgian Official Gazette 31/03/2021, in force 01/05/2021) governs genealogical research in civil-status records and opens access to the Civil Status Records Database (BAEC) for the State Archives. Records become available for these purposes after 100 years for births, 75 years for marriages and 50 years for deaths (circulars of 19/03/2019 and 24/08/2020).
For a more recent record concerning a living person, we obtain their written consent before any consultation, in compliance with the GDPR.
France
Access to public archives is set by the Heritage Code (art. L213-1 and L213-2). Birth and marriage records are freely available 75 years after their date (or 25 years after the person's death if shorter); death records are available immediately.
Documents are communicable as of right; for those still protected, access may be requested by way of derogation. Reuse of personal data complies with the GDPR.
