The three cookies

“session” — keeps you signed in. Thirty days. Unreachable by the page's JavaScript, hence unusable by a third-party script.

“seed” — holds the person and parents typed on the home page while you create your account. One hour, then it disappears on its own.

“language” — remembers the language you picked in the selector.

Why there is no banner

The ePrivacy directive and the European authorities' guidelines exempt three categories from consent: authentication cookies, those holding a form entry in progress, and those remembering a preference the person expressed — the language, for instance.

Geneacta's three cookies fall exactly into those three categories. A banner asking your agreement for them would serve nothing: it would not be required, it would change nothing if refused, and it would teach you to click “accept” without reading.

The day Geneacta sets a cookie outside that list, the banner will appear, and this page will say so before it does.

Audience measurement

The audience measurement in use (Umami) sets NO cookie and builds no lasting identifier: it counts page views, not people. That is why it was chosen, and that is what keeps it outside the scope of consent.

It is loaded from another domain, which lets it see your IP address for the duration of the request — as does any image or font served by a third party. Umami turns it at once into a daily hash, which allows no tracking from one day to the next nor from one site to another.

A script blocker neutralises it, and nothing on the site depends on it.

Refusing them anyway

Your browser can block or erase this site's cookies. The result is predictable: you will not stay signed in from one page to the next, and the site will appear in your browser's language rather than the one you chose. Nothing else will change.
